SPEAKER_01

Rip currents cause an estimated 100 deaths each year in the United States. In 2021, five of these deaths were on the Gulf Coast. Rip currents are the number one rudder-related killer at the beaches along the northern Gulf Coast. The number of rip current fatalities on these beaches is more than the fatalities of flooding, tornadoes, lightning, and tropical storms or hurricanes combined. Learn the facts. Before heading out to the beach, check current beach conditions and know what each flag means. Always swim near a lifeguard. Rip currents are narrow currents that flow away from the beach. If you notice you're being pulled away from the beach and are swimming and getting tired, you may be in a rip current. Think of it like a treadmill that you can't turn off. You want to step to the side of it, don't swim against the current, try to swim across it in a direction following the shoreline. Rip currents do not pull you under, but may take you as far out as a football field so people can tire quickly. The most important thing is to stay calm. If you can't escape the current, float or calmly tread water. Wave for help if you can. Rip current's strength eventually subsides and may even take you closer to shore. If you see someone caught in a rip current, call 911 or get a lifeguard and throw something that floats towards the victim. For more information, please visit www.visitaalbeaches.com slash safety.

SPEAKER_14

Close me out when you can. A girl like that won't get away. I tend to keep on coming. There's a whole lot more that I wish I could say. Wish I could tell you I'm the luckiest guy who every step put into this part. I got someone who swears I'm her only one. Thinks I hung a moon and stalls. Wish I could tell you she's home waiting for me now. I need to be home my way.

SPEAKER_15

Looking for that greener grass. And how it's all gonna be okay.

SPEAKER_14

But no go too far now. There's a whole lot more that I wish I could say I could say she never leave me alone. Looking for that bring her grace Wish I could say all belongs she'll be home.

SPEAKER_12

And how it's all gonna be okay.

SPEAKER_14

There's a whole lot more that I wish I could say. Bartender don't go too far now. There's a whole lot more that I wish I could say.

SPEAKER_00

So you think you can get a train? Well think again that little scene the trains can cause serious injuries or death. You must slow down and only approach all railway wrong. The train is approaching always behind the solid white line. Or is it a lot of line runs only when the train is away in the area and not when the trains are approaching.

SPEAKER_08

And once again this Monday morning, I am sitting in our new weather office here at the desk. We're looking at the extended weather forecast, just like we always do. And it is difficult to predict the forecast. I've been involved in the weather. I've I'm loved knowing about the weather since I was a child. I guess I should have been meteorologist for an awful lot of other areas like the law and news and many other things. But uh for today I do have your extended weather forecast for as far out as we can possibly see. And we're using all of the same equipment as many weather officers, and uh so today let's start by looking out the window and telling you it's gonna be mostly sunny for the rest of the day. 90 degrees is gonna be the high and the overnight, it's gonna be hot and humid, eighty-two degrees. Winds are blowing, kicking up 15 to 18 miles per hour out of the west. And we only have about a 20% chance of any light rain in the area for today. Tomorrow, Tuesday, is gonna be uh exact duplicate of today. Mostly sunny, right around 90 degrees once again, winds blowing out of the west about 15 miles per hour, and once again, rain chances 18 to 20 percent, just a few showers, here myths here or there, nothing major. As we move into the middle of the week, Wednesday, the 29th of July. Well, we will see more clouds moving into the area, temperatures hovering again right around 90 degrees, 82 in the overnight, hot and humid once again. That's gonna bring more chances of some rain showers upwards of 30%. On Wednesday, we will have mostly sunny skies, but those rain chances will probably move in later in the day. Wind still kicking up 15-18 miles per hour and persisting from the west, coming from the west to the east. Thursday, we'll start seeing some isolated thunderstorms, temperature again hovering right around 90 degrees, 80 in the overnight, wind once again coming out of the west, 13 to 18 miles per hour, and those chances of rain start creeping up around 40% Thursday. Friday we see more scattered thunderstorms, and unfortunately, they're gonna stick with us for a few days. The high on Friday, right around 89, might as well say 90. The low overnight, 80 degrees, winds once again will be coming out of the west 14 to 18 miles per hour. But on this Friday, we'll have about a 55% chance of those scattered thunderstorms moving in late in the afternoon. Saturday and Sunday, we just won't be able to escape those thunderstorms. High school today, right around 88 degrees for the weekend. Wind once again coming out of the west, this time west-southwest, 15 to 18 miles per hour both Saturday and Sunday. About a 60% chance of those thunderstorms. We will have a few sun rays on both days, but it doesn't look like uh a great weekend. But you know, we're gonna take it one way or the other. Monday, those thunderstorms remain in our area, but the sun will be out as well. 50% chance of those thunderstorms in some of our areas. The temperature is a little bit lower starting Monday. We see just the high being around 86 degrees during the daytime. On the 77 in the overnight, kind of miles, wind coming out of the southwest about 12 miles per hour. Tuesday is gonna be a duplicate uh Monday with morning thunderstorms, the high right around 86 degrees once again, winds blowing 12 to 15 miles per hour this time from the south-southwest. And then we're gonna have sunshine, but also about 50% chance of those thunderstorms hanging around. Wednesday and Thursday, scattered or isolated thunderstorms, the high around 87 during the daytime, the overnight, about 79 degrees wind this time coming from the south-southwest at about 10 to 12 miles per hour. Remember, weather is unpredictable, so be sure that you're always prepared to have the weather app on your phone, have the weather box at home and at the office, because you never know in our neck of the woods what's gonna happen from one moment to the next. And that is your extended weather forecast for this Monday morning.

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_07

For some children, America isn't the land of promise. It's a place where everything is America.

SPEAKER_08

Coming up July the thirty first, that is a Friday night happening in Orange Beach. A big handoff to the students going back to school. Once again, that's gonna be the last day of July Friday, the 31st, 530 to 7.30 at the waterfront park right there in Orange Beach.

SPEAKER_12

Nothing here to tie us down. Big dreams in a small town, rolling down the dusty roll in my daddy's home. Did I just feel that way again? But don't I don't think that all down?

SPEAKER_02

Not staring at my cell phone, stuck in the bathroom mirror. And if I was a cowboy, I'd just throw some blue jeans on. I'd be somewhere on a dance floor. I'd already be moved on. Cowboys don't cry. Cowboys can lie to themselves and to everyone else where it's already. Cowboys ain't fragile with a back in the saddle. Don't bring for their heart to unbreak. They just ran away. They just ran away off in the sunset. In the shabby Silverado. Go to church and give up drinking. For some girl from Colorado. Cowboys say they'll never marry. So you go and set them free. Mister, I ain't getting married. Just didn't wanna marry me. Cowboys don't cry.

SPEAKER_03

Cowboys can lie to themselves and to everyone. So Cowboys ain't fresh up to the bag instead of Don't break from break. They just ran just a girl closing her towel.

SPEAKER_02

Can't have her hurt. Under her Cowboys don't cry!

SPEAKER_03

Cowboys can sell everyone else when it's over. Cowboys don't care.

SPEAKER_06

And here's the exit. You know, Johnny, he has six beers in already. This is not gonna end well.

SPEAKER_05

Steve, he's rumbling, bubbling, stumbling all over the place, and oh, that can't be good. Look at that sloppy key action. That's gonna draw a penalty.

SPEAKER_07

Drinking, driving, possible $1,500 fine, and one year in jail.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, Steve, that was a good call by the ref. One bad decision totally changes the game. You know what just goes to show if you drink when you drive, nobody wins.

SPEAKER_08

Hey folks, thanks for joining us here on coastal Alabama's newest radio show, Highway 98, where everything is local and all about living on the coast. We're bringing you great music, news, and local events every day, right here on Highway 98. Here at the uh Blu-Ran Media Studios, we read a lot of news. I'm telling you, we read all the time 24-7, just about. Um we're all I would say news hounds. We all want to know what's happening uh in our neck of the woods. And there is so much happening across the state and in the region, uh, it sometimes really is difficult to stay on top of. One of the things that I saw was the return of the robotic um competition. I guess it's a national nonprofit. It was here for a while, and I believe it's been a number of years. Technology engineering robotic nonprofit is returning really gives them a hand on experience, and this is gonna be a competition. And uh it was formerly called the Jubilee Best, and now it's being called the Golf Coast Best. You may remember that. Um, the best robotics network hosted and supported by the BTE Connect, allow student teams from across the Gulf Coast to take a hands-on new engineering approach, challenge themselves, build competitive robots, and uh experience some building skills, competence, curiosity, so on and so forth. It's happening November the 6th and 7th, and you can be a sponsor. We are also checking the internet like I said, we're involved in so many different um things, but this one really does intrigue me. You can contact them at info at bteconnect.org if you'd like to become a sponsor or if you'd like more information. But as far as I'm concerned, anything that will get kids to, you know, start experiencing all of the technology because that's where we're at, not where we're gonna be. We are there between AI and robotics and all of the technology. This is a great opportunity for our students here in Alabama.

SPEAKER_12

It's been a while. How about doing? Well, I get by somehow. You sure look good since your new bone came in your life. No, I didn't see that fire in you each man Oh I never song I look in your eyes And I never had you owe me that eye never song You dance with your feet off around Who would I speak now? I own and him, you never look more beautiful. Lettin' go has been so hard on me. I'm sitting here, it's clear to see what he means to you. The way you look at him, I know Mr. Ball, I couldn't be oh I never told I look in your eye, and I never had you owe me that eye. I'm never talking. You dance with your feet off the ground. You dance with your feet off the verand. Who would I see it now?
