SPEAKER_08The number of rip current fatalities on these beaches is more than the fatalities of flooding, tornadoes, lightning and tropical storms or hurricanes combined. Learn the facts. Before heading out to the beach, check current beach conditions and know what each flag means. Always swim near a lifeguard. Rip currents are narrow currents that flow away from the beach. If you notice you're being pulled away from the beach and are swimming and getting tired, you may be in a rip current. Think of it like a treadmill that you can't turn off. You want to step to the side of it. Don't swim against the current. Try to swim across it in a direction following the shoreline. Rip currents do not pull you under, but may take you as far out as a football field so people can tire quickly. The most important thing is to stay calm. If you can't escape the current, float or calmly tread water. Wave for help if you can. Rip current's strength eventually subsides and may even take you closer to shore. If you see someone caught in a rip current, call 911 or get a lifeguard and throw something that floats towards the victim. For more information, please visit www.visitaalbeaches.com slash safety.
SPEAKER_11Have you all noticed? And I'm sure you probably have. Like I have. For the last 10 plus years, it seems to me. And I've done some research, so I'm not you know I'm not losing it. But it seems to me that electronics, whether it be computers or TV, dishwashers, or refrigerators, anything electronic these days. Nothing else will wrong. Everything else would work. We use the computer. We use large We use a lot of different electronics devices. And guess what? They also are made. Not only not forever, but not even for a reasonable amount of time. Research tells you that electronics are often designed with shorter lifespans and limited repairability. A practice known as land. In other words, it'll be obsolete. It'll be obsolete before you even can use it. Manufacturers achieve this through hardware uh degradation, segregation, including together hardware software updates that make older devices incompatible with new apps. Then we know that. We get an update regularly and all of a sudden, no, no, it ain't gonna work this time. Hardware limit forget that. Things like batteries, and you know, they degrade especially over heavy use abandoned. No more, it's not good for your device, it's not good for the smartphone, not good for the tablet, not good for anything. You are thinking like me. No, we don't think it lasts long. They don't last long at all. And it's a way for manufacturers to keep selling. It's all about profitability. And if you wondered, now you know. And just in recent months, I've had to replace several appliances with dishwasher, microwave phones, computers. When you're in business, it's even worse. But now you know the rest of the real story.
SPEAKER_03This is for all you sophisticated ladies out there. She grew up in the city in a little subdivision. Her daddy wore a tie, mama never tried a chicken. Pallet straight aids, most likely to sleep. They bought her a car After graduation, slander down style, bought some light. Put her on the fast track, do a lot of brain. Open the hand of the battle. Well I've done it to me.
SPEAKER_04Everyone's been a while. Even though we won't with you, don't stand up, stand sleep. There are days every night. And again, I pretend I'm okay, but that's the time.

SPEAKER_04Telling me it's game on again. Taking a shortcut back to her place. Little tequila and hitting that pin. She's saying the right things, strumming my heart strains. Talkin' about our future home. But I hear the siren as the buzzers deriving. Too many times, been down and stroll. She ain't gon' let me, I'm gone. She ain't gon' think about me too long. She's laid up. She ain't gonna let me I'm dead. Stop in the boots with all my friends. She won't let me down I know a thing or two believing, but this is the new side of the door. She's sneaking out while I'm still sleeping, that it makes me wanna more. And just for a moment, stop me closing. Stay in to never let me go.
SPEAKER_11And once again this morning, sitting in the Blue Ram studio at the news and weather desk this morning, it was a hot one over the weekend. And it's gonna continue being hot for the rest of the week, but with a little extra. And that unfortunately, is a mixed bag of rain and thunderstorms and a higher wind velocity. So let's get right to it today. As you can see, we have uh partly cloudy, we have sunshine, temperature high today, right at 88 degrees. Winds blowing from the west-southwest at about 11 to 15 miles per hour. And we are looking at about a 25 to 30 percent chance of rain, hit or miss throughout our area for today. Now, tomorrow morning, Tuesday, you might wake up early in the morning with some thunderstorms as temperatures rise again during the day, around 90 degrees, winds once again 11 to 15 miles per hour coming out of the west-southwest. Now, those thunderstorms won't last long, but there's about a 60% chance, and that's that's very high actually, for those things to happen tomorrow. We can't even rule out that they won't come back later in the day or even in the overnight. On Wednesday, we're looking at about a 50% chance of those thunderstorms remaining around as the temperatures once again creeps up to 91 degrees during the daytime, with a low, if we can even call it, for Wednesday evening to 80 degrees. Thunderstorm chances right around 50% for Wednesday, and then we'll see some sunshine later in the day. But don't be uh confused with sunshine being, you know, prevalent for the rest of the week, because actually, what is prevalent are storms. So Thursday, again, in the morning on Thursday, we have a 60% chance of thunderstorms still hanging around. The high Thursday will be 91 degrees, the low overnight, 80, 60% chance of morning thunderstorms. They could roll back in later in the day, or overnight. Winds continue coming out of the west-southwest at about 15 miles per hour. For your Friday, things are looking a little bit better. We will have partly cloudy, that means partly sunny skies, a temperature right around 92 degrees. But there is a chance, 25% chance of some rain or isolated thunderstorms for your Friday. Winds once again coming out of the west-southwest at about 15 miles per hour. I would say most of these storms that we face here along the Gulf Coast either come from the Gulf North along the uh I-65 corridor or from the west to the east, which is what's happening this week. Saturday and Sunday, once again, isolated thunderstorms or scattered thunderstorms remain high, upwards of 40 to 50 percent. So today's temperature hovering between 88 and 90. And once again, winds are blowing from the west-southwest at about 10 to 15 miles per hour. Both Saturday and Sunday will be sunny with heavy rain chances, including thunderstorms. Getting back to work on the 13th day of uh July Monday. It's gonna be scattered thunderstorms again throughout the day. The high will be right around 90. Again, Tuesday the 14th, more thunderstorms, Wednesday, more thunderstorms, Thursday, thunderstorms, Friday the 17th, thunderstorms, and on and on and on. It seems that this pattern will not be. Leaving us anytime soon, but don't worry about it. When we get back in the studio on Thursday, we'll have this all tidied up for you as we are looking well beyond that 14-day period. And we'll let you know if any of this changes. But that is your current extended weather forecast from Coastal Alabama Radio. SPEAKER_07Nothing stronger than memory.
SPEAKER_05Finally showed herself what she was made up. She never thought twice about it. Couldn't call her mama, didn't stop cutting gas. Never broke down at the low back.
SPEAKER_04But where she's now, I don't know. There's something about this time here that spins my heel around. Takes me back, makes me wonder what she does now. Feeling up my mind empty in my heart. I can hear her each time the golden blows. I wonder if she knows what she's doing now. Just relax, add down her own number, but no one knew her name. Hung up the phone, sat there and wondered if she'd ever done a single. I took a walk in the evening well. But tonight I lie here thinking what she doing now. Cause what she's doing now is taking me a ball. I can hear the open nose. Empty in my home. I can hear the call each time the cold rose. And I wonder if she knows what she's doing now.
SPEAKER_11It's Highway 98. We've got your favorite new hits. Some of those good old hits. Indie music, gospel, bluegrass, and so much more.
SPEAKER_09Here on Highway 98.
SPEAKER_01We all know we can do it. We don't know we can do it.
SPEAKER_11We're driving under the influence of alcohol. We're driving working under regular duty patrols and regular duty driving violations and drivers previously. Morgan and Stewart was arrested for DUI in the nine in a block of US Highway 98. UF 98 with Ring. At about 2 a.m. on UF 98. Goddamn it, Williams with driving under the influence of alcohol on North Main Street. And Van Der Wayne Rand was charged with DUI alcohol. And we're charged with driving under the influence of the control of the world. Michael Clary was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Brandon Delaney Daniel was a record for DUI alcohol. And the Allen drive during the driver. And you have ninety-eight year the wild wing ever. Under the age of twenty-one. Thomas Adam Hall, also charged by Daphne Police for DUI, driving in a vehicle with alcohol at US 98 and North Main Street. And Alexandro Giovanni Edson was arrested for DUI alcohol. During the month of June 2020.
SPEAKER_02Just before the summer disappeared, we went around them old farts. Hangin' out on the gate-ish truck. We threw a blank and leave the sunset. Being brave as eighteen years. We gave each other more than our hearts. With the help of a mason jar. Drink a watermelon blue shot. Cut the bark with a little lie. Parkin' back a new curves. I was his and never bitted light, boy. Too young and knowing love was we were learning over sweet books. There's never nothing like the first time. The mind's always gonna taste like water and the moonshine. I don't remember where we got it from. I just remember feeling all grown up. Taking pulls like it ain't no thing. Never told him it was my first strike. But I told him that he was the one. So sure, ruin your leg. You think he got it all figured out? And now I laugh with a bigger bag. Drinking white beaver, blue shot. Cut apart with a little eye. Parking back in them cuz you might. I was hearing every bit of that, boy was mine. To the other love was we were earning over sweet books. There's never nothing like the first time. Mom's always gonna taste that. What a memory shot. I hope that I would have forever. That ain't what we know.
unknownMaybe we were drunk as love.
SPEAKER_02Maybe we were jealous Drinking watermelon moonshine. I cut the barn with a little line. Parking back in little cuts of vines. I was his and every bit of that boy. He was mine too young and no. And mine's always gonna taste like What a little loon shot. What a little moon shot doing.
SPEAKER_04Somehow it always blows when I feel alone. So I've gonna anchor down. Wait till it comes up. Leave the rest of the world behind. Yeah, that's how I'll pass the time till I catch my second wheel. Get back up and go and stream on. You stop the me. I can start to stay out here till I know the goal. Still and watch the time till I catch my step. There's a beast in the way at feet the water's deal. And as long as it's calm out here, I've got some kill. But that's You like it?
SPEAKER_12In a minute, I'm going to drown in this pool. Surrounded by things. Melissa. Nobody's watching me.
SPEAKER_00Don't assume someone else is watching. Become a waterwash on Abysho.org.
SPEAKER_11Oh, Parks and Resorts would like to remind you about a special day. An annual event, actually, that's been happening now for a number of years. The Community Safety Day. Thank a responder and put safety first at our annual Community Safety Day. First responders, law enforcement, fire, EMS will all be gathered there August the 22nd from 2 to 6 p.m. The Community Safety Day will be downtown OWA. And it's all about celebrating the people and the organizations that keep our community safe and strong. Spend the day meeting local first responders from across the area, watching canine training demonstrations, and of course enjoying a live DJ on OWA Island. Don't miss the Heroes Hunger Games, where first responders go head to head in a friendly competition. Join us for the fun, feel good day for families, friends, and neighbors all coming together to show appreciation for the heroes among us.
SPEAKER_06I'm gonna do it up. You just want to see that.
SPEAKER_11Unfortunately, tragedy hit the city of Loxley. Um, police from Robertsdale was chasing a motorcyclist for some traffic violations. A pursuit ensued on Friday afternoon, ending with a fatality. The Robertsdale Police Department said that an officer spotted a motorcyclist riding recklessly on Highway 59. He was actually driving north in the southbound lanes when police tried to pull him over. That's when the chase began near the central Baldwin Middle School, and unfortunately ended off Black Divine Road near Railroad Street in Loxley. Um the motorcyclist hit a truck that was towing some lawn equipment, and unfortunately, he died on scene. Aliah has taken over that investigation. No other information has been released. A fire over the weekend of a mobile home may have started because of fireworks, according to residents of the area. The Foley Fire Department responded to the mobile home fire, and upon arriving on scene, found the structure to be heavily involved in fire with black smoke fiddling from that home. Foley police and EMS were also dispatched to the scene. Now, according to information that we received, several people in the area were shooting off fireworks, which may have caused the fire, but police have not confirmed that. Foley firefighters stated that no one was in the mobile home at the time of the fire. There were no injuries, but the cause still remains under investigation. Get this. Walks into a euphul Alabama Walmart. He heads straight to the sporting goods area. Where he proceeded to open a two-pack of bear spray right off the shelf. And then started spraying it in several areas of the store affecting people. Then he went up to the front of the desk and get this one. He tried to refund it for cash. Police recalled officers quickly located Monty Britt Patrick in 2037. Now Patrick has been charged with reckless endangerment and two counts of theft of the property in the fourth degree. He also had another outstanding warrant. Not sure why he decided to do all this. He is currently on probation. And he also faces other charges, police said. This is definitely an odd one, but we actually have seen something similar elsewhere. Governor Ivy has announced $174 million in choice and active funding. This funding allows families to apply for applications to bring their students anywhere that they choose. Now, according to the Governor's office, around 49,000 students, a record high, submitted applications for the 2026-2027 school year. Governor Ivey has championed this choose act, which allows parents to choose where their children are educated. This continues to be a hot button in many states. According to the news released from the governor's office, approximately 7,000 students are approved annually. Uh that's a correction. About $7,000 are given students annually, either for homeschool or for some other educational program. This uh program is has been initiated in other states as well. And from what we can tell, many are really loving it, whether they are being homeschool schooled or sent to a Christian school or some other uh facility. It seems to be working out. Now a man in Mobile was sentenced to federal prison for child pornography distribution. Authorities say Samuel Paul Paulis, 51, was arrested after a search warrant was in his home in November 2025, where officers took a cell phone and found thousands of images and videos depicting sexual abuse of children. He's going to serve prison time seven years, and he'll also be on probation for 15 years, and he has to pay a restitution of $74,500. This is happening more and more, and uh we're finding that many people move into the area with criminal intent. The Dolphin Island Fire Department is seeking water. No, not water from the hydrants, but bottled water, and also sports drinks to hydrate their firefighters as temperatures continue to rise. Now the volunteer fire department is not allowed to spend any tax dollars on such things. So they're asking that you bring the water and other bottled hydration items, uh non-alcoholic, of course, to the volunteer fire department on top of an island. Emergency responders responded to an 18 wheeler rollover. This happened on um US Highway 31 near State Highway 181. Uh Friday, an 18 wheeler loaded with steel kicked over. There were no injuries, and police are investigating. Several people were rescued off the coast of Fort Morgan after their boat capsized using GPS and other technology. Fort Morgan fire Aliyah troopers, um, Marine Police and Coast Guard were able to locate the three and get them safely back to the shore within three hours. There was no major injuries. They were checked out by EMS and taken to a local hospital. Well, it's been announced that the old Coles building located in Spanish 4 is gonna be repurposed. It's getting a new facelift right now, as the infirmary health announced it will be a regional operations office. Now, according to the mayor, he says this is perfect because they already have one regional office there. Another company currently has uh their center located in that complex. D. H. Corton's regional headquarters and office operations was relocated a number of years ago in the former JC Penny building, and there are other companies who are looking to relocate either there or nearby, so this is all a good fit. According to authorities, two men died in Connecticut County from a fire. Both were from Mobile college students. Uh, there's not a whole lot of information. It happened in Evergreen about 1.30 in the morning uh Wednesday. Authorities are still investigating. The Stockton Solar Farm continues forward. Even though community members voted against it, they also voted yes for zoning. Taking the first formal step in a fight to stop the 4,500 acre solar farm, but authorities say it's a done deal. It will continue. Residents say they will control any other growth now with the new zoning laws. Remember, when you see news happening here along the Gulf Coast, send it to Newsdesk at Blue Rammedia.com. Each month we pick out the best news tip and you get a bundle of things. We get you a whole bunch of stuff. Contact Newsdesk at Blue Rammedia.com Highway 98 Radio. And once again, just like that, we are wrapping up another great program as we are headed to that four hundred, four hundredth radio show that we have put together, produced, published, and it's all because of people like you who believe in us, listen to us, and participate. And we want you to tell your friends, coworkers, uh, employees, family, whoever, whoever you can get to listen, tell them about our program. Not only is it produced locally by a professional Nashville studio producer, but also it is community-oriented. Everything we do is all about the Alabama Gulf Coast. But even though we are recording and broadcasting live from the beautiful Gulf Shores of Alabama, we're also on iHeartRadio and we're on more than 40 platforms streaming today, and I as we continue just really all across the country and around the world, we continue to make new friends. And thank you. Thank you for being part of this community. We promise we're going to continue to increase the newness of this program. You know, a lot of radio shows you listen to them, and whether they're local or national, they're they get a little stagnant, a little stale. We try not to have that happen here. But one of the things that I do want to remind you right now is no matter where you are driving, whether it's on the interstate, the county road, wherever it might be, if you hear siren, if you see light, you gotta pull to the right. Whether that emergency vehicle is behind you or coming toward you, you gotta pull to the shoulder of the road. If you're on the interstate, you're supposed to also pull to the right, at least allow them to get by you on the left lane in the number one lane, they call it the high speed lane, and you're not supposed to block them. Also, if you're driving down the interstate and the police fire EMS is already on the side of the road, you gotta pull to the left. You have to slow down and move to the left lane if at all possible, and if not, you have to slow down to reduce your speed considerably to keep our professional emergency responders safe. Until the next time, we hope that you'll be safe. Be blessed, and I'll see you back on the radio in just a couple of days.
