Hello and welcome to Coastal Alabama Highway 98 Radio. Ripple can behind the microphone. We've got the latest breaking news, extended weather forecast, and great music coming up live, broadcasting from the Blue Ran Media Studios here in Golf Shores, Alabama.
SPEAKER_05I'm farther away from thirty than I am from fifty. Never thought I'd say, but I think I'm fine with that. And I'm farther away from chasing round. Ever dream I ever tried to run down, and getting quite all right, but just right where I'm at. The Lord's been talking and I've been listening. And there's some youngins that I've been missing. And there's some hoes that I ain't been fishing. And you realize you ain't the man you ever was. When getting on a bit age does what it does. There's some cracks in the rear view, mirror, but now I see things a little clearer. I better make a little time before I turn the dust. I've gotten farther from the bottom than I've been in quite a few years, and closer to the man upstairs. I'm farther away from stomach than I am from sober. Spin up here, climb just like a newswood. And I'm farther away from losing everything that ever made me happy. Now I ain't been perfect, but lately I'm doing pretty good. And there's a woman that I've been missing. And there's some holes that I ain't been fishing. And you realize you ain't the man you ever was. When getting on a bit age does what it does. There's some cracks in the rear view mirror, but now I see things a little clearer. I better make a little time before I turn the dust. I've gotten farther from the bottom than I've been in quite a few years. And closer to the man upstairs. Live and love gets better to you. When you treat in them, hears for hallelujahs. And you realize you ain't the man you ever was. When you're getting on up in age does what it does. There's some cracks in the rim you memory, but now I see things a little clearer. I better make a little time before I turn to dust. I've gotten farther from the bottom than I've been in quite a few years. And closer to the man upstairs.
SPEAKER_20There's a lot of things happening from now until the end of the year. I said a few weeks ago. You know, something to do here long ago. But now we have to keep our calendar up today because there's so many things happening. And some people live by these events. That's right. They they know every week, every month. What's happening? Well, I'm gonna bring that to you here shortly. Of course, I've got a lot of great music weather forecasts. And news finger on the forefront. I will also introduce you to them and their music, and of course, so much more. Remember, you can contact our newsdash and report news newsdash at Bluerand Media.com or review new finger. We'd love to play your song. Turn it over.com. Speaking of fending and let me find you some music of some great finger. And I'll be back in just a few moments.
SPEAKER_05That was years ago. Last I heard she had moved to Baldur. But where she's now, I don't know. But there's something about this time that spins my heel right now. Takes me back, makes me wonder what she doing now. She's tearing me up, filling up my mind, and empty in my heart. I can hear the call each time blows. Now wondering she knows what she's doing now. Just for relax, added out her own number, but no one knew her name. Hung up the phone, sat there and wondered if she'd ever done a say. But tonight I lie here thinking what she doing now. Cause what she's doing now is taking off. I can hear it's time to open the nose. And I wonder if she's my home. I can hear her strike over the roads. And I wonder if she knows what she's doing now.
SPEAKER_04Thick and slow across the worn outlined where our bare feet used to go.
SPEAKER_05That old kitchen table, scarred from a thousand meals, holds just a coffee cup now, and all that silence feels. Every smile, every tear, every whisper, the melody for time. We drive for hours, nowhere bound with nothing left to hide. Your hand on my knee, the ready on stalking low. Talking about forever. Like young folks, always do we know we played out all the time. Just like it did when we did that. On some more love stone. Reaching out for something that just can't be understand. The way you laugh at my bad jokes, the crankle by your eyes. Now just a memory play. But leave these alone in sky. But some scholars run told me. They just can't help but stir. When a fit of sound of feeling brings it all up to back. Like a free train in the darkness on an empty long track. I try to hold on to the good time. Put the plane keep on my mind.
SPEAKER_03Across our inside, that's been a burst in the desert. Just to be the camera, the one nine tolls. The one nine tolls.
SPEAKER_07We'll think about only is there's too much time to think.
SPEAKER_06Like me lying here, no win. Let it runs all up to me.
SPEAKER_03Across the cancer, let's do the must win the rains.
SPEAKER_06I'll take a bare foot walk. Across our cancel, let's be the day just to be together.
SPEAKER_21For one night and toast for one night and toast. Just one night, tosa.
SPEAKER_20Broadcasting live from the beautiful Gulf Coast of Alabama, it's Highway 98. We've got your favorite new hits. Some of those good old hits. Indie music, gospel, bluegrass, and so much more. Here on Highway 98.
SPEAKER_16Rip currents cause an estimated 100 deaths each year in the United States. In 2021, five of these deaths were on the Gulf Coast. Rip currents are the number one ruthery-related killer at the beaches along the northern Gulf Coast. The number of rip current fatalities on these beaches is more than the fatalities of flooding, tornadoes, lightning, and tropical storms or hurricanes combined. Learn the facts. Before heading out to the beach, check current beach conditions and know what each flag means. Always swim near a lifeguard. Rip currents are narrow currents that flow away from the beach. If you notice you're being pulled away from the beach and are swimming and getting tired, you may be in a rip current. Think of it like a treadmill that you can't turn off. You want to step to the side of it. Don't swim against the current. Try to swim across it in a direction following the shoreline. Rip currents do not pull you under, but may take you as far out as a football field so people can tire quickly. The most important thing is to stay calm. If you can't escape the current, float or calmly tread water. Wave for help if you can. Rip current's strength eventually subsides and may even take you closer to shore. If you see someone caught in a rip current, call 911 or get a lifeguard and throw something that floats towards the victim. For more information, please visit www.visitalbeaches.com slash safety.
SPEAKER_20There are a lot of things this weekend, April the 18th, Saturday, going on. This is gonna be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. three hours at 1987. Guess what? SPEAKER_04Lonely can't lay a finger on me when you're in my arms, and my demon finally lost behind me. Can't even find me in the dark. Your lips are like a kiss. Sunshine pouring down a rain. And when you whisper my name, I hear anything. But whipped-wheels and freight train. I don't miss that and that whistle waking me and taking me back to the rain.
SPEAKER_05And I don't hear that all sometimes driving me insane.
SPEAKER_04I know I'm back here. Every time I hear whipper wheels and freight trains. Ain't straight in my heart. Triggered by those echoes in the distance. Used to hit me so hard. But when you lie by my side in peaceful dreams, moonlight on your face. And sleep safe from whipper wheels and freight trains. I'm on this at that whistle waking me and taking me back to the pain.
SPEAKER_05And I won't give that also my window and that's anything. I went and go and knew I know about tears.
SPEAKER_04Whipper wheels and freight trains. I hate whipper wheels and freight trains.
SPEAKER_06I know what to try in the dark. Looking for aft of a spark. Throwin' them back like I got nothing to lose. It's a slow burn just like you. Everybody says give it time. But I'm feeling like I'm stuck on a wide. Throwing them back like I got nothing to lose. It's a slow burn just like you. When I'm a couple in, I get optimistic. Like you wanna be realistic. Maybe I just finished for drinking. Get my heart something to think you. Better make it good. Then I won't go for another round of meeting you.

SPEAKER_02But every step I'm getting closer. To thinking it being really over. I know it ain't right, but baby, just for the night. I don't wanna have no closure. But I'm a couple and I get optimistic. Like you ain't realistic.
SPEAKER_08Maybe I'll just face for taking. Get my heart's overtaking. Better make it over. Then I won't go for another bother making joke. I get home for that.

SPEAKER_02She wants Magnolias out in the country.
SPEAKER_05Not too many people. Save a daddy somebody. She got it all planned out. Yeah. I can see it all right now. I'll wear my back so back, tied out in the back. I'll do a stroll, shallow whiskey, straight out through flask. I'll try to make it through and I'm crying. So nobody can see. When I got the invite, I knew it was too late. And down the road, her daddy's been driven this day. Oh, but he don't know he don't giving her away. I'll wear my back. I went to back. I'll do strong straw. Straight out the front. I'll try to make it through a crowd. No bad. Welcome in the gesture. I can try to find a get it off of my chest now. But I don't think So I'm in my black stool, black tiding out in the back, doing a strong shot of whiskey, straight at the flask. I try to make it through without crying so nobody.
unknownYes, you don't get married.
SPEAKER_10But no one say how long they've known. Was it from the beginning? Was it the whole time? Four years together. Were you ever mind? Don't know the answer. Guess I gotta guess what? Would you tell me if you had the chance? Would you ask for again? Tell me the truth.
SPEAKER_09I love you. Would you live back question?
SPEAKER_10Everything you ever said. If you knew it was your last breath. It's been months since I saw your face. And all these stories still ain't straight. Yeah, I keep fighting pieces, know I'm a reason. Screaming at the devil, praying Jesus. Yes, I'll never know. Yeah, you too. It should be great if you knew it was coming.

SPEAKER_22I bounced right off the bottle. I do it myself. If I'm not going through hell, I pick up all the pieces, put on back up on the shell next to the lake.
SPEAKER_14Great, heart late. Yeah. I've been going through the emotion, anger in the eye. I breathe right through the bitter, but acceptance took a while. Now I honestly hope that you're happy. Then you find what you're trying to find. Ironically, I can finally breathe Only the other side of the lake.
SPEAKER_05Great, great heartbreak. I'm crossin' off my head, and I'm paying my respects To the lake, great, great heartbreak. Forgiving and forgotten. I bounced right off the bottom. SPEAKER_20Right here at Coastal Alabama's Highway 98 Radio, a Blue Ram media station. This morning I've got a lot of breaking news to get to, and we we want to get right over there to the news desk because it has been a very busy weekend, and uh so far this week very busy in our communities. A motorcyclist succumbed to their injuries after being injured in a Dolphin Island wreck that backed up traffic for more than two hours. David E. Hopkins, 75, was fatally injured while riding a motorcycle uh crossing into uh Dolphin Island before you get to the bridge. A vehicle from out of state hit Mr. Uh Hopkins. He was taken to the hospital, and unfortunately, he did not survive. Police and Foley are reporting the arrest of two suspects after a brief standoff. This occurred in the 13,000 block of McGaster Trail. The two men have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm. Nicole Jones, 33 of Foley, and Zachary Robinson Rowland, 19 of Mississippi, both faced felony charges. Police were called to the area, and when they went to question the two, they ran into a home and refused to come out. And uh they had a little bit of a standoff, but they were uh finally arrested. And by Ulivatory, the police are reporting that a man intentionally ran down two motorcyclists with his pickup truck. 68-year-old Ted Gillespie has been arrested for being that driver. He actually knew the two motorcyclists and they got into some type of beef, and he decided to just mow them down with his truck. One person was injured, the other one only had scrapes. The police had charged Gillespie with felonies in that situation. A driver led police on a pursuit of mobile down Houston Street and Virginia Street and several others on Tuesday afternoon. The driver crashed and police were able to get him in custody. Police report that he is facing multiple charges. According to police, Mason Merzet, 30, is charged with felony attempting to elude, felony reckless endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a number of driving offenses. He's currently still locked up in the Mobile County jail. Police in Bay Manette have made an arrest in a shooting. Officers reported to gunshots in the 400 block of South Royal Avenue. One male was injured and taken to the hospital. The police through their investigation and with the assistance of the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office arrested one person for the attempted murder charge, and the investigation, they said, is still uh currently ongoing, and we'll give you more details as soon as it becomes available. Police in Gardendale, Alabama, which is just north of Birmingham, are confused. A bizarre bank robbery occurred in the small town a few days ago, and here's what went down. According to the Gardendale police, an elderly woman entered a region's bank on April the 10th, passed a note to one of the cashiers demanding cash. She j then left and went right to the police station and turned herself in. The FBI has gotten involved because it's both a state and federal offense. But here's the deal. In criminal law, you have to prove intent. This is something that law enforcement is currently struggling with because intent must be an element needed to prove that a person intended to commit a crime. Right now the FBI says she's being held, but they haven't charged her yet, and she could walk free. They are still trying to figure out why. Why in the world would she go and rob a bank and then quickly turn herself in? It could be for medical reasons, it could be for many other reasons. That information and her name have not been released. An accident involving an AT wheeler that ran off I can was found crashing onto Tennessee Street is still under investigation, police said. This wreck happened on Wednesday in the early morning hours around 2 a.m. The unidentified truck driver received extreme burns across much of his body. Another vehicle was also involved, and that person was injured. The 18 wheeler caught fire, and several agencies are currently investigating to see what happened. Two very serious wrecks and fully were reported on Tuesday night. Authorities responded to first around 6.20 p.m. to County Road 20 near South Hickory Street. Aliyah and Fully police, the Fully Fire Department and EMS. A vehicle flipped over. Four people, four adults were injured. A life light helicopter had to be dispatched. One person was rushed by airlift to a trauma center. The police are still investigating what happened. Uh while they're investigating that, a short time later, another rolled over, this one involving an 18 uh ATV, and it contained four teenagers. According to authorities, the ATV rolled over also, trapping two of the kids underneath. Firefighters, police, and the fully police department responded, EMS. They were able to rescue all of the teens. Once again, a medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene and took one of the juveniles to a trauma center. Police are still investigating. Two police pursuits in Mobile has resulted in the arrest of both drivers for drugs. Robert Grayson Jr. faces charges of possession of controlled substance, driving while revoked, reckless endanger, attempting to elude, and a bunch of driving offenses. Samuel Petaway 36 was also involved in a separate pursuit. Police charge him with attempting to elude, possession of cocaine, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, illegal possession of prescription drugs. Neither one of these are strangers to law enforcement. They're currently locked up in the Metro jail in Mobile. Recently, Spanish Ford Police added another officer to the force. This is a canine officer, a specialized dog. That's right, he's specialized. Unlike others who snip out drugs or guns, this dog looks for cortisol, which is a stress hormone. They're gonna use him uh in the schools, on with their own police department, on events, and this is to help cut down and to maybe uh intercede on somebody who's having a mental health issue before something serious happens. A story that I wrote just a few days ago appeared in the Blue Ram Media newsletter and also online at Blue Ram Media. Seven projects currently in the works on Eastern Shore will change the face of Eastern Shore forever. Right now we have a a huge$3.5 billion project. The ITEM Mobile River Bridge and Bayway is uh certainly a a big project. We have two golf courses with uh single family homes being built in those golf course uh communities. We have a big hotel that is projected to open in 2029 in Old Town, Daphne. We have uh a big huge community being built near the river. And we have another big community uh that's being built or proposed to be built, and I'm sure it will pass the Italian villa at 21 and 64, and there's a few others, and these these projects are big and they're definitely going to change. Really the way that we see um our community. Police in Fairhope are considering to write tickets or even tow and impound e-vehicles after receiving complaints. We did a substantial story for a week checking with police departments in Baldwin and Mobile County. There's been a few accidents, there's been some tickets, but several police departments are now considering the same thing that fare help is, and that is to impound those e-vehicles which were drive recklessly and carelessly. A person was found hung in over the weekend. A neighbor saw someone hanging and went closer to investigate on why the court police fire and EMS was called. Unfortunately, that person was deceased. Police had ruled that a suicide. Another suicide happened just days earlier in Fairhope, just north of the pier. That person shot himself in the head. The following fire department responded over the weekend to the McDonald's. The police said that uh there was a grease fire in the kitchen. They were able to get that extinguished. Customers and employees were evacuated and later returned. Uh really no uh explanation for the cause of the fire, but those things do happen.
